Call me a flower dork, but I can endlessly stare at a lady slipper orchid. These little beauties are a surreal product of Mother Nature, and I never grow tired of them. The bold brown and green colors of the orchid paired perfectly with Charlie Brown and green cymbidium orchids. Sahara roses add an element of softness to this organic inspired bouquet. Such rich and earthy colors are balanced by a feminine sequin wrapped trim. This bouquet would be pair lovely with the neutrals to brown dresses.

Bouquet Monday: Earthy Lady Slipper Bouquet
Design from an inspiration: What inspires you?
I marvel those who get their inspirations from just about anything. As a designer in the wedding industry, I often encourage my brides to look into fashion magazine, Home decor magazine, their closet or even their surroundings for inspirations. I remember one day Aileen went to the studio with a cut-out of a tulle dress from Issac Mizrahi. I had a puzzeled look on my face as I waited for an explanation. ’This is my inspiration for my tabletop!’ was her answer. She wrapped her head around this cute pink tulle dress and designed this gorgeous tabletop using the same elements. All from a dress. What inspires YOU?

Destination wedding ~ Florida
Several weeks ago we had a wonderful opportunity to design a wedding in Orlando Florida. Kelly and Fabio’s vision was to have a dreamy fairy tale wedding. What better place to have it then Orlando? We are so honor to be able to design this wedding for them. The entire week was simply ‘Magical’. Kelly was seriously the most sweetest bride ever! After more then 10 months of planning her Florida wedding with her from Bermuda, we finally met. What a lovely person she is! We had great fun planning and designing this romantic Florida wedding. The Gaylord Palms in Orlando is truly a romantic venue to host a wedding. The ceremony was surrounded with Medieval decor, Large stone walls and soothing waterfalls, all within the large Atrium. Very mystical and unique! We here at Karen Tran Florals are very excited to be able to add ‘Destination weddings’ to our services.
Please check back for more fantastic images as we are anxiously awaiting professional photos from David Christensen Photography.
Red and Jewel-toned wedding wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado
We had the opportunity of collaborating with the marvelous Coronado wedding planner Susanne Duffy of Crown Weddings for an intimate wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado. When we found out that the bride wanted brilliant colors of ruby red and amethyst, we could barely contain ourselves. Diane centered her decor around her stunning red dress, and contrasted it with hues of lavender, plum, fuchsia, and green. The bride and groom exchanged vows at the Vista Walk in between two large arrangements cascading with scarlet and lavender roses, eggplant calla lilies, purple tulips, fuchsia phalaenopsis orchids, and green hanging amaranthus. The wedding continued in the Windsor Complex ballroom, the perfect size for an intimate affair such as this. Platinum satin table clothes and silver chiavari chairs were the foundation for each vintage candelabra, overflowing with vibrant blooms. Surrounded each centerpieces were mercury candle holders that gave the room a romantic and antique glow. Thank you Heather from Vallentyne Photography for the gorgeous photos! This wedding was designed by Aileen Tran. Fantastic job Aileen!
Bouquet Monday: Light pink peony bouquet
Maybe its the holiday season that makes me wish I was a graceful ballerina. I dug up this photo of a light pink peony and tulle bouquet that was made during the height of the season. The delicate petals of the peonies reminded me of ethereal ballerina tutus. This bouquet was a compliment to a photo shoot we did at the Santaluz Club with the ultra talented Pam Scott. The Ritz Carlton Kapalua Maui wedding ~ photos by Mike Adrian
I was very excited to received these gorgeous images from Maui photographer Mike Adrian today. The wedding of Hien and Paul took place at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua in Maui. The day could not have been more perfect. The bride had chosen muted blush tones for her wedding. She carried an ALL ‘Gardenia’ bouquet. As many of you know, Gardenias are my all time favorite! I love the Gardenias from Maui. They are much larger then the ones we are use to here in Southern California. Each bloom is hand wired together to form a gorgeous fragrant round bouquet. This is definitely the labor of Love as it is tedious and very time consuming. We are so happy to say that we are able to replicate the weddings we design in San Diego to Hawaii. The ceremony overlooked the crystal blue ocean on the Napili lawn. The reception was in the Plantation ballroom where we introduced the lace top linens from Wildflower linens. The Plantation room looked so romantic with amber lighting and soft glow of our candles on each guest table. Each guest table was adorn with large floral arrangement bursting with hundreds of roses, hydrangeas, orchids leis and white phalaenopsis orchids. The crystal embellishment of course always gives the room the extra sparkles. We can’t wait to go back to Hawaii…Thanks Mike for these incredible images!
Peacock teal and fuchsia wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado
Another fun wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado! Rachel was absolutely stunning on her wedding day! She carried a elegant gathering of long white phalaenopsis orchids with stems completely wrapped with rhinestone strands. The ceremony for this beautiful couple took place on the Vista Walk at the Hotel Del Coronado follow with a reception in the Coronet ballroom. Rachel loves the organic and whimsical appearance of the Manzanita branches and the elegant blooms of White Phalaenopsis orchids. We paired those two elements together throughout their wedding. The infusion of bright apple green orchids, lady’s slipper orchids (my favorite!) and hot pink roses were intriguing against the bridesmaids Teal dresses. Lately, The word ‘peacock’ has been the most popular search term on our blog. The rich array of colors ranging from purple to teal makes this an interesting element to introduce to the wedding decor. Although we did not use the peacock plumes, we did utilize the our peacock shimmer linens to introduce the Teal color feature in the bridal party’s attire. This wedding included a bit of seaside element as well, after all we are right on the beach in southern California! We designed the adorable ring bearer silk box with a seashell brooch and the Escort table included finger star fish tied with guests names. The tabletop in the Coronet room at the Hotel Del Coronado included large Manzanita branches dripping with loose pendulous phalaenopsis stems. We added moss, orchid blooms and white hydrangeas at the base for an organic touch. The wonderful Jennifer from Simply Posh Design worked closely with Rachel to design perfect pairing of fan ceremony programs, guest cards and menus. The color and design was simply perfect. Thank you Jennifer! Incredibly beautiful images are of course from Darin Fong.
Bouquet Monday: Plum purple magenta bouquet
Purple prevails in this richly colored and textural bouquet. Ruffly cattlya orchids, fuchsia phalaenopsis, striking calla lilies, and lavender roses all join together to create a colorful statement. Each bouquet is finished with satin eggplant ribbon and adorned with an adorable crystal brooch. ~Aileen
Modern wedding in Bold colors: Hotel Del Coronado
We’ve been looking forward to sharing this wedding that we collaborated with the wonderful Emily Smiley all year. It was a grand event at the historic Hotel Del Coronado fill with tons of modern details. Deanna and John wanted a unique combination of yellow, cobalt blue, and green to be the colors for their decor. Each of the bridesmaids carried a cascading bundle of white phalaenopsis orchids to highlight their stunning blue dresses, while the flower girls held jewel encrusted floral purses. The bride walked down a petal path aisle decorated in an elegant scroll pattern and lined with large cylinder vases filled with submerged green cymbidium orchids, yellow tulips, and calla lilies. Behind the guests chairs were floral planter boxes custom wrapped in white satin and overflowing with white and yellow blooms. At the end and entrance of the aisle were two acrylic columns that held arrangements bursting with oncidium orchids and phalaenopsis orchids. I love how it makes it look as though they’re floating!!
As the guest sipped their champagne, they were greeted by a long escort card table decorated with graceful bouquets of calla lilies and orchids. Satin covered boxes were filled with sand to nestling darling little adirondack chairs and guest cards.
The party moved into the Grand Ballroom with a stunning circle dance floor designed by Platinum Pro. The live music preformed by Wayne Foster Entertainment never ease to amaze us. They were spectacular!
The special Headtable tablescape display cascading white phalaenopsis orchids, white calla lilies and white hydrangeas. The design was clean and modern which made a striking statement. We continued the theme with the cupcake display by elevating the trays with vases of submerged orchids. Thank you Darin Fong for the gorgeous photos! Congratulations to Deana and John!

Our recent wedding took place at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua in Maui. If you are a golfer, this is your paradise. Surrounded by beautiful golf courses, including my very favorite ‘Plantation Golf Course’. The Ritz Carlton Kapalua is perched on a knoll overlooking one of the world’s famous beaches.
This wedding was set on Napilli lawn with a dramatic coast line backdrop where we built our signature wedding canopy. The neutral tones with hints of pale pink were used throughout the wedding. The celebration continued to the Plantation ballroom where large floral display were used in every guest table. Wildflower linens provided the beautiful lace overlay with the chair caps. The bride opted for an All white Gardenia bouquet with a simple crystal brooch. We had a lot of fun ‘blinging’ up all the bridesmaids bouquets as well.
I look forward to many more weddings in Hawaii this coming year! We are so very excited that we can now offer this service. Aloha!

Regal wedding in the Crown Room at the Hotel Del Coronado
Gemma was probably one of the sweetest person I have ever met. I remember my first conversation with her, she told me ever since she was a little girl, she dreamt about getting married at the Hotel Del Coronado. She has wanted a beautiful grand wedding in the Crown ballroom with large elegant floral centerpieces. I am happy that that dream has come true for Gemma. In August, she strolled down the gorgeous Windsor lawn at the Hotel Del on a hand painted aisle runner with biblical scriptures she held dear. We designed a white airy wedding canopy infused with white phalaenopsis orchids, large white hydrangeas and plethora of ivory and white roses. The guests were greeted with parasols and hand carved wooden fans to shield them from the warm sun. Inside the beautiful Crown ballroom, we played off the warm tones of the infamous Crown chandeliers. Gold and Ivory were the main colors used for this royal like wedding. Gold crystal brooch napkin rings, beautiful crown emblem menus from Simply Posh design, crystal frames and floating candles were some of many touches that made the Crown ballroom sparkled. Susanne Duffy from Crown Weddings assist in planning and coordinating this special affair for Gemma and Derek. Photos courtesy of Pam Scott Photography. Congratulations Gemma and Derek!

Bouquet Accents
