Welcome to San Diego Wedding Blog

A little about Karen:   I have always been exposed to flowers.   It began with my father who was blessed with a green thumb. As a child, I remember growing most everything we ate for dinner and planting all types of flowers in every season. It didn’t occur to me to start playing with flowers until a dear friend ask if I could help her with her wedding 18 years ago. Well, I’ve gotten a little better since then.   I am blessed with loving what I do and presented with many opportunities to work with wonderful brides.

I recently had the Joy of being a bride myself last year in San Diego and brought new prospective and inspirations to my company.   I hope to share them with you.  Even as a Event Decorator and San Diego Wedding Florist, I know how it feels to be in the midst of a wedding labyrinth and I hope this Wedding blog will inspire you and assist you in planning the most amazing day of your life.   Enjoy the blog and come back to visit us often as we will like to keep it updated.   Thank you for visiting.

Aileen’s Bouquet Monday: floral handbag

A wonderful alternative to the traditional flower baskets and halos are floral purses. They’re suitable for the young flower girls, as well as the junior bridesmaids. A chic purse covered in makara orchids, with contemporary accents like a sleek wooden handle, orange crystals, and embossed leather can make any girl feel grown up and special ~ Aileen

Hotel Del Coronado Beach wedding: Lavish in pink

The greatest things about San Diego are the weather and the beach.   Having a beach wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado is part of the ultimate San Diego experience.  Mindi and Jeffrey’s day was all about perfect weather and tons of pretty details. What girl doesn’t want to be a “princess” bride and have scrumptious eye candy everywhere? Since the wedding was held on the beach of the Hotel Del Coronado, they wanted the guests to be as comfortable as possible.  Pink parasols, beach flip flops, and a place to check-in their dancing shoes were all provided.  Each station was marked by custom hand painted signs in the bride’s favorite color: pink!
The ceremony was decorated lavishly with large pink canopy complete with a crystal chandelier and covered with white and pink orchids, roses, and hydrangea. The aisle was dripping with leis and crystals, very fun and flirty. The Hotel del Coronado Grand Ballroom received an over the top glamor and glitz pink treatment. The bride and groom were introduced through the grand entrance flanked with two massive orchid trees.  Each table was decorated with overflowing centerpieces that were surrounded by floating candles and vessels filled with pink sea glass. Paillete linens and chair covers made the room sparkle with a feminine flair. To bring out all the ladies inner pink princess, we draped feathers boas on each of their chairs just perfect for dancing.
Our hard work paid off  with a sweet ending….everything was just perfect.

Aileen’s bouquet Monday: luxurious lavender

I came upon these unique amnesia roses and fell in love with its luxurious lavender, brown, and green tones. The texture of the petals were so velvety, it made me feel like I came upon a great vintage find in an antique shop. I’m enamored with the wardrobe from The Changeling and wanted to create a bouquet reminiscent of that time period. Dark purples and olive green hues of  the pivots  brought out the gorgeous color of the roses. Interspersed throughout the bouquet are burgundy foxtails, which makes it look like a rare mink coat that you’d find in your grandmother’s closet from the 1920’s. I add grey toned jewels and wrapped it in a luxurious antique sequin trim to really jazz it all up ~ Aileenamnesia_lavender

Happy anniversary Libby and Scott!

This week is the anniversary of Libby and Scott.  They were married  at the Congregation Beth Israel of San Diego in UTC.  The reception was held at Libby’s father’s resort, The Grand Pacific Resort in Carlsbad.  Darin Fong just sent me these stunning images of their wedding. Thank you Darin!  This wedding was spectacular and beautiful in so many ways.  Libby looked spendid in her mermaid gown carrying a fragrant gardenia bouquet.  Wayne Foster Entertainment brought the party to this wedding with their high energy music.   Susanne Duffy  from Crown Weddings was the fabulous planner.  The ingredients to this amazing tabletop?  130 stems of dendrobium orchids, 40 stems of white hydrangeas, 25 stems of imported roses equals ONE spectacular arrangement! What a party, what a beautiful wedding.  Thank you  Libby and Scott for including me in your gorgeous wedding.  I am so honor to be a part of it.  Happy 1st anniversary!

Bouquet Monday by Aileen: Luscious Green Bouquets

These bouquets were from a wedding we did not too long ago. The reception was white, brown, and gold with hints of green. These bouquets are a combination of my favorite green flowers: hydrangea, cymbidium orchids, and viburnum. But what stands out for me are the green phaleonopsis orchids, which gently hover above and give these airy bouquets a more polished look. For the bride, I made a classic and textural bouquet that included gardenias, spray roses, and peonies. I love how the boldness of the peonies contrast with the delicateness of the gardenias. I’m a sucker for sentimental details: the bride used a rosary to adorn the handle of her bouquet ~ Aileen
